When buying a Half Fare Travelcard you take out an indefinite contract. The advantage: your travelcard is automatically renewed when your validity period expires. Your SwissPass card is valid for several years and your travelcard remains activated on the same card.

Cancellation reminders.

We remind you of the possible cancellation date in good time, before the automatic annual renewal. You will receive this reminder together with your annual invoice. Cancellation.

We will send you the invoice for the new validity period of your Half Fare Travelcard two months before the automatic annual renewal. You will therefore have enough time to cancel your Half Fare Travelcard by the date specified, if you want to. Subject to the applicable deadlines, you can cancel your Half Fare Travelcard at any time, to take effect from the end of the payment period. We can of course cancel your Travelcard at points of sale or by phone at the SBB Contact Centre 0848 44 66 88 (CHF 0.08/min).

Payment arrears.

Please note that if you do not pay your annual Half Fare Travelcard renewal fee on time, you will be in arrears without warning. At this point you can no longer cancel your Half Fare Travelcard. If you are in arrears, we can block your Half Fare Travelcard after one month of validity.

The annual cost for a Half Fare Travelcard is CHF 185. You can take advantage of a loyalty price of CHF 165 a year once your Half Fare Travelcard is automatically renewed after a year or you seamlessly change from a GA Travelcard to the Half Fare Travelcard.

16 up to the 25th birthday pay CHF 120 for the Half Fare Travelcard. You will be charged a loyalty price of CHF 100 when your Half Fare Travelcard is automatically renewed after a year or you seamlessly change from a GA Travelcard to the Half Fare Travelcard for youth. 

When you order the Half Fare Travelcard, you can choose whether you would like to pay by invoice and payment slip (not possible for the Half Fare Travelcard for youth) or by credit card. I’m paying by credit card.

Order your travelcard and pay by credit card online in the webshop, using an order form or at a point of sale. Please note:

• The credit card must be in the same name as the contracting party.
  
• The credit card will be charged once the order has been received.

I’m paying by invoice.

We will send you the invoice together with a payment slip in the post. Please note:

• Your order must be placed at least ten days before your travelcard validity begins. Otherwise your payment by invoice cannot be processed and will be returned.
  
• We will send you the invoice separately – not together with your SwissPass card. You must pay this before the first day that your travelcard is valid, otherwise you will receive a payment reminder. (This payment method is only available for the Half Fare Travelcard, not for the Half Fare Travelcard for youth.)

Other options at the point of sale.

You can pay by Maestro card, PostFinance card, credit card, Reka Cheque, Reka Rail, Reka Card, vouchers or cash at the point of sale.

Invoice by e-mail.

We will send the travelcard contracting party an e-mail once the invoice is ready in the customer account on swisspass.chLink opens in new window., where you will find all the information about paying the invoice by online banking.

Sign up to receive invoices by e-mail on swisspass.chLink opens in new window. under “Notifications” in the settings menu item or on the order form.

Invoice by post.

We will send you the invoice together with a payment slip in the post.

Direct debit (LSV) and DebitDirect.

If you pay by direct debit through your bank or DebitDirect from Swiss Post, the travelcard fee will automatically be debited from your account on the date the payment is due unless you cancel in time. Fill in the form to pay by LSV or DebitDirect. If you decide to pay by direct debit through a bank, please send the signed form to your bank. If you would like to pay by DebitDirect (Swiss Post) please send the signed form to SBB AG Passenger Traffic c/o SBB Corporate Finance, Poststrasse 6, CH-3000 Bern 65. We will notify you by post or e-mail before the automatic renewal of your travelcard about the upcoming direct debit.

E-bill directly to your e-banking account.

Paying is even more simple and convenient with the e-bill service from Swiss banks. We will send you the e-bill electronically to the billing inbox in your e-banking account. You do not have to read in a payment slip. Simply check the invoice and authorise payment with just a few clicks. Sign up for e-banking with your bank under the menu item E-billing/invoicing at SBB to receive e-bills.

Please note: You will not receive any additional invoicing information from us by post or e-mail when you pay by e-bill. We recommend that you sign up to reminders at swisspass.chLink opens in new window. so that you will be reminded by e-mail or SMS in good time of your travelcard subscription’s possible cancellation date.

Your SwissPass will be delivered by post within around ten days. If your Half Fare Travelcard is expected to be valid before then, it is possible to obtain a temporary SwissPass. If you order online, you can print it out as a PDF. If you order at a ticket counter, bring all of your documents with you and you will receive it there.

Order a 1-month travelpass in addition to your Half Fare Travelcard. So that your Half Fare Travelcard becomes a GA Travelcard for one month.

If you have left your SwissPass at home or in the office, you can buy a temporary replacement card from the counter for a fee of CHF 5.00. Please present official proof of identity.

Get a 10% discount with your Half Fare Travelcard when you hire passenger cars or utility vehicles from Europcar in Switzerland.

With tickets for public transport, you can enjoy at least 10% discount or added value for numerous leisure experiences.

With your GA Travelcard, you can enjoy 15% off the standard price for the non-Swiss part of cross-border journeys to Germany and Austria.

Other European railway companies will also give you a 15% reduction on routes abroad if you have a Rail Plus card (which costs CHF 25 a year) in addition to your Half Fare Travelcard. The Rail Plus card is only available as an addition to the GA or Half Fare Travelcard. The Rail Plus card is free without an additional travelcard for children up to the age of 16 and is also free for young people up to the age of 26. The Rail Plus card is valid for one year.

Rail Plus is not required for Germany and Austria because you are essentially travelling there for 15% less on routes abroad with your Half Fare Travelcard.

The Swiss Museum Pass opens the door to over 485 museums across Switzerland for a year. Collections and special exhibitions are included. You can get your own Swiss Museum Pass at any serviced sales point.

You will receive a discount of up to CHF 20 on the museum pass with a valid Half Fare Travelcard. Simply present your blue Half Fare Travelcard or your Half Fare Travelcard on your SwissPass when buying the museum pass.
